Paediatrics & Neonatal ICU

Care for your baby from the first breath — a neonatal ICU, routine newborn checks, immunisation and paediatric consultation.

How it works, step by step

  1. 1 Baby checked right after birth
  2. 2 Extra breathing/warming support if needed
  3. 3 NICU care for premature or sick babies
  4. 4 You're updated at every step

What we offer

  • Delivery-room newborn care
  • Neonatal ICU for premature and sick newborns
  • Newborn screening
  • Immunisation as per IAP schedule
  • Paediatric outpatient consultation

A sick or premature newborn needs care within minutes, not hours. Amma Hospital has a neonatal ICU on the same floor as the labour room, so there’s no transfer to another hospital if your baby needs extra support after birth. Routine newborn checks, immunisation and general paediatric consultation are also available for older babies and children.

Frequently asked questions

Is a paediatrician present at delivery?

A trained team is available for every delivery to check and, if needed, resuscitate the newborn, with NICU support on site.

What happens if my baby needs the NICU?

Most babies who need extra help only need it for a short while — things like warmth, help feeding or a little breathing support while they get stronger. You're kept informed and can see your baby regularly.
